Abstract
This paper argues for a substantive new agenda across Europe based on the real experiences of everyday life and new forms of governance which address the democratic deficit and develop collaborative and participative approaches to decision making. Drawing on the first phase of EuroFEM research, the paper uses better practice characteristics from women's projects in local and regional development to illustrate the possibility of change, not least within UK planning practice.
